Lyle Tuttle on the cover of Madame Chinchillas book "Electric Tattooing by Men".
In 1984-85 ISA was stationed at Lyle Tuttles world famous tattoo studio and museum on 7th street in San Francisco, where she learned valuable lessons and met interesting friends. There is few places where loyalty to the true spirit and tradition of tattooing are so well preserved. There she also met the world famous sword swallower Captain Don Leslie. And she had the pleasure to establish a friendship with Chris Isaak who has a heart full of soul.
ISA "I met many beautiful and interesting people over the years through my profession as a tattooist. But the pace of modern life and the commercialisation have turned most things into superficiality including tattooing.
The tattoo trade is gradually taken over by "business" people and turned into a supermarket product.
This is why I usually avoid tattoo conventions and with all due respect I keep out of the way of mainstream tattooing, so that I can preserve and cherish my memories and stay faithfull to my love of tattoo the way it got under my skin in the first place."
